Are you wanting to learn how to run? Or perhaps to get back into Running?
FORDY RUNS Running Club Burwell offers a zero to hero, ultra-inclusive, weekly running session which aims to bring runners of all abilities together to help them to achieve their goals. Whether you are an absolute beginner, nervous about exercising or have a good level of fitness already, sessions are tailored to suit each runners’ needs – so there will be something for everyone.
FRRC Burwell will be focusing on the interval running method developed by Olympian Jeff Galloway. Advantages of this Run Walk Run method are:
Reduced chance of injury
Gives the runner the feeling of being in control
Offers runners a method of building up time and distance
The 6 week Run-Walk-Run Beginner Course will focus on 30 second ratios of running and walking, initially with breaks in the middle. The distance will gradually be increased over the weeks, with the eventual aim to enable members to run longer and further at their own pace, ending in an optional local Parkrun to celebrate completing the course.
More experienced runners are also welcome and those of you that would like to run continuously. We have training plans available for runners that want to reach further distances or perhaps you are training for a particular event – maybe the couch to marathon plan is for you.
You are welcome to join the group at any point with your first couple of sessions free of charge.
All sessions are run by an England Athletics Run Leader and will have a warm-up and cool down. If you would like to join in you will need comfortable clothes and running shoes, and ideally a good sports bra for ladies.
FORDY RUNS Running Club is an England Athletics Affiliated Running Club. We offer our members all the benefits of being affiliated, without any added pressure that can sometimes come from being a member of a traditional running club. FORDY RUNS Running Club is a large, thriving online community where you will find runners of all abilities sharing their experiences and achievements, offering support and help, forming friendships, meeting up at events and races and most importantly have fun!
When you join our local Burwell group you will be joining an awesome team of Everyday Runners. In 2019, I ran two half marathons and achieved personal bests at 5km and 10km by running 30:30 intervals and that’s why I want to share it with you. If you have any questions or would like to talk to me first before you come along to a session, please drop me an email at FRRCBurwell@gmail.com
