First event of the year for me – I was super bumped. Problem for me was that I am Marathon training I couldn’t ‘race’ the event so I had to keep telling myself this was a training run. To distract me from going crazy I strapped up the GoPro and went about filming as much as I could for my YouTube channel. With the Beast from the East putting the event in jeopardy it was a real surprise on the morning to turn up in the beautiful spring sunshine. I soon stripped off the 30 layers I put on when I left the house and jumped into my pen.
There was something like 11,000 runners though you would have never known. The London Marathon guys who organised this event did it so well it didn’t feel packed or overcrowded. They got everyone into their pens perfectly. There was no shortage of toilets (a usual prob) and the marshalls were just amazing.
We had super Mo Farah leading the men’s race so the place was buzzing with his attendance. The course was cool – though not my favourite track – but it was great. Biggest problem for me was the cobbled sections which killed my Achilles and I am still nursing the after effects of them cobbled streets! The crowds were amazing and got involved in cheering us all on.
The finish was cool infront of the Cutty Sark and then finish area up at Greenwich park was good. Getting in and out was easy as so overall I would recommend this event for anyone looking to run a half in London. I look forward to it next year! Check out my VLOG
Next update coming your way in March!
