Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 Review

Best Long Run Shoe?

The Saucony Endorphin line up of running shoes is the best in the business. The Endorphin Speed 3 and Endorphin Pro 3 are two of the best running shoes you can buy. The Shift 3 has seen some updates this year that were much needed, including softening up the midsole and making it lighter! Check out the latest offers on running shoes HERE

Stats & Features

• £140

• Increased stack under forefoot to 35mm (39mm in heel)

• 4mm drop

• Speedroll Technology

• PWRRUN Midsole

• Mesh Upper

• Weight 266g (US Men 9)

• Fits TTS

Upper

A really nice fit with the upper on this shoe. They have scaled back the upper and cleaned it up which has improved it in my opinion. I had a blister the first time I ran in the shoe but after about 20 miles the shoe has really come to me in terms of comfort and fit.

Midsole

PWRRUN and not PWRRUN PB in this shoe means the ride is less explosive. The shoe still has that Speedroll technology which does give you a real nice roll. The shoe feels lighter and softer. They have also worked hard to make feel less like a brick. I like the increased stack under forefoot it really improves the experience.

Outsole

Still a major let down on the Endorphin line up the shoe is not as good as others in slippery conditions. I wish they had put the Truimph outsole on this shoe.

Value

£140 is about right. It feels a little less well built that other Saucony running shoes but overall, I don’t think I can moan about the price. The Shift 3 is not the most popular shoe so it will get discounted.

Does it make you feel awesome?

Not really. It is an average shoe that for sure has been improved over previous versions, it is just abit boring. That is not to say boring is bad, but I think you will get fresher legs from a NB Fresh Foam More and the Glideride 3 feels better over those dreaded 20-mile-long runs!

Yah or Nah?

I am on the fence. On one hand it is a good workhouse shoe that is improved vs previous versions. The midsole has softened and the greater amount of foam under foot has helped. The Speedroll technology is noticeable. It is just a little meh still… I think Saucony should have gone max stack cush on this shoe to make it stand out. Something along the lines of the NB Fresh Foam More that will look after your legs once you have beaten them up in the other shoes. It’s a step forward but maybe look around at some of the other options in this crowded space.
