Summer is finally here! I love running in the Summer … Matt thinks I am mad as he hates the heat but I just love it! Those warmer mornings running along the river with the sun bouncing off the River Lea is something I simply adore!
This year it will be harder though as I train for the Chelmsford Marathon. I wanted to push myself over the Summer and maintain good structure and distance with my running. I can be tempted to ease off over Summer but with the Great North Run, Ragnar Relay and like I said Chelmsford Marathon I can’t afford too.
Billy and I are not training for a time at Chelmsford, we are doing it really as a long training run (which might seem crazy). It will be hard in September busting out 20 miles when it is warmer but I really feel that I will benefit from this process as a runner and as a person.
My Sciatica is really really really getting on my nerves! I have not heard back from the hospital and my extended break from running made no difference. I have found my little Lacoste ball does relieve it slightly but I am concerned again for the Marathon that it will cause me issues.
The cool thing with training for Chelmsford is that it will hopefully make me perform better when we take on the Ragnar Relay in September. I think that will be more a mental challenge because of the lack of sleep, but I can’t wait to join the boys and get going on September 21st!
It was awesome to see some local press from our efforts at the Ware10s event. Fordy Runs is defiantly gathering some momentum and it is amazing to see the local kids attending our new Junior sessions. This weekend we have the London Relay where we have the largest team. We will be taking over two stages and turning them pink. This is a great event raising money for the very cool Running Charity. I am also super excited about the back end of the year with some new events in different parts of the Country.
In a few weeks I head off on holiday but I will not be resting as training must continue! Enjoy the Summer everyone, keep going, stay motivated and never give up! #DoSomethingAwesome
