Adidas Supernova Glide Review

ree
The Adidas Supernova Glide is a shoe that initially feels a little… confusing. Even after spending time running in it, it’s not immediately obvious where it fits in Adidas’ lineup. But after more miles—and some time in the gym—it starts to make sense, especially once price and use case are taken into account. Adidas has been refreshing the Supernova range, which is aimed squarely at everyday runners rather than elite racers. Within the lineup you’ve got shoes like the Rise and the Solution, and now the Glide slots in as the most affordable option at £110, undercutting the others that sit around £130.

Key Specs and Features
  • Price: £110
  • Weight: ~300g (UK 10)
  • Stack height: 36mm heel / 28mm forefoot
  • Midsole: Dual-foam setup with Dreamstrike Glow
  • Upper: Engineered mesh (no Primeweave)
  • Outsole: Full-length rubber (no Lighttraxion)

Straight away, you can see where costs have been saved. There’s no Lighttraxion outsole—one of the standout features on other Supernova models—and the upper is a more basic engineered mesh rather than Adidas’ premium Primeweave. That explains both the lower price and the slightly more traditional feel.

Fit and Comfort
Fit is consistent with the rest of the Supernova range. The shoe is comfortable out of the box, with no rubbing or hotspots, and the lockdown is solid. The mesh upper may be simpler, but it does the job well. Visually, the Dreamstrike Glow midsole paired with darker uppers actually looks very good—clean, modern, and understated.

Ride and Performance
The Dreamstrike Glow foam is an interesting material. It looks soft, but underfoot it’s noticeably firmer than expected. It’s not harsh, just more traditional-feeling compared to the bouncier Dreamstrike+ foam found in the Supernova Rise. There’s less energy return and feedback, but it still feels stable and comfortable for daily miles.

At 36mm in the heel, this isn’t a low-stack shoe by any means, even if it feels more grounded than its siblings. Easy runs feel smooth, and it can handle moderate pace changes without complaint. That said, forefoot cushioning feels a little thin—especially for forefoot strikers—giving it a sensation similar to something like a firmer daily trainer. Heel strikers, however, may appreciate the extra cushioning under the rear of the foot, particularly at this price point.

Where the Glide Really Makes Sense
This is where the Supernova Glide starts to shine. While it’s perfectly capable as a daily running shoe, it arguably works even better as a multi-purpose training shoe. It performs well on treadmills, bikes, and during gym warm-ups. It’s stable enough for strength work, comfortable enough for cardio sessions, and still capable of handling a parkrun or easy outdoor run if needed. As a “throw-it-in-your-gym-bag” shoe that can do a bit of everything, it makes a lot of sense—especially once discounts kick in (and they almost certainly will).

Value and Final Verdict
At full price, the Glide is a tough sell when the Supernova Rise exists for just £20 more. The Rise offers a more exciting ride thanks to Dreamstrike+ foam and generally feels like the better running shoe. However, once the Supernova Glide drops into the £75–£85 range, it becomes genuinely interesting. At that point, it’s a versatile, durable, comfortable trainer that can handle running, gym sessions, and mixed training without issue.

Bottom line: The Adidas Supernova Glide is a solid, no-nonsense shoe that feels more like a budget or discounted all-round trainer than a standout daily runner. There’s nothing wrong with it at all—it’s just overshadowed by better options in Adidas’ own lineup. Buy it discounted, and it’s a very practical, reliable choice.
