The New Balance Fresh Foam X More v6 is here—and it’s massive. This max-stack daily trainer brings a plush, cushioned ride with over 40mm of Fresh Foam X underfoot, promising all-day comfort and a soft cruising experience. But here’s the thing: is it really worth upgrading from version 5?
Let’s break it down.
Specs and Features
Price: £150
Stack: Approx. 44mm in the heel
Drop: 4mm
Weight: 334g (UK 10)
Fit: Go up half a size (typical for New Balance)
Midsole: Fresh Foam X (same as v5 and the 1080v14)
Upper: New engineered mesh upper
Outsole: Blown rubber
Tongue: Gusseted
What’s New?
Honestly—not much. The most noticeable change is the new upper, and a bit of added foam to bump up comfort. But the midsole and overall geometry feel pretty much identical to v5. The improvements are subtle at best, and unless you’re comparing the two side by side, you’re unlikely to notice any difference on the run.
Ride Feel
This is a recovery day shoe through and through. It’s soft, wide, stable, and best used for walking, easy jogging, or lounging. Despite the towering stack, the More v6 actually feels more stable than expected. Thanks to its broad base and wide platform, it delivers a surprisingly grounded ride.
That said, it’s not a performance-oriented shoe. It doesn’t respond well to pace changes and feels more at home on a stroll to Tesco or during long walks than during tempo runs. If you're after something more runnable, shoes like the Puma Magnify Nitro or Skechers Aero Burst provide more versatility at a similar price point.
Who Is This For?
