Adidas Supernova Rise 3 Review: A Daily Trainer That Finally Delivers

ree
For years, Adidas struggled to produce daily trainers that genuinely worked for the everyday runner. Their performance shoes were strong, but when it came to that reliable, do-everything daily trainer, the lineup had a major gap. That changed with the introduction of the Supernova range, and more importantly, the arrival of the Dreamstrike+ foam—a PEBA-blend foam that instantly elevated Adidas’ everyday offering.

With the Supernova Rise 3, Adidas takes another meaningful step forward. This third version retains the strengths of the earlier models while introducing several significant improvements that make it a true competitor in the daily trainer category.

What’s New? Stats & Features
The headline change is simple but important:full-length Dreamstrike+ foam.
Previous Supernova models mixed the Dreamstrike+ with EVA components to create structure and stability. With the Rise 3, Adidas has dropped the EVA heel piece and stripped back the frame, giving runners a complete midsole of their best daily-trainer foam.

The updated Dreamstrike+ is:
  • 5% lighter
  • 20% softer
  • 16% more foam overall
This translates to greater comfort, more bounce, and a smoother experience underfoot.

Additional updates include:
  • New Primeweave upper engineered for an adaptive, secure fit
  • Light Traction outsole with anatomical sculpting for better transitions and reliable winter grip
  • Wide base for natural stability
  • 8mm drop, with a UK/US 10 weighing 291g

Visually, the Rise 3 also looks significantly more sculpted and modern. The midsole geometry has been reshaped, giving the shoe a faster, more performance-oriented stance while still sitting firmly in the daily-trainer category.

Fit & Upper
The lacing and lockdown remain consistent with earlier models—simple, effective, and reliable. There’s comfortable padding in the tongue and heel, and the upper feels both breathable and supportive thanks to the new Primeweave material. The shoe includes minimal overlays for added structure, and the toebox caused no rubbing or fit issues during testing. Overall, it’s a comfortable and secure upper that works for a variety of foot shapes.

Ride & Performance
This is where the Rise 3 truly shines.
The new full-length Dreamstrike+ is softer, bouncier, and more lively than before. It’s a clear improvement over both v1 and v2. In terms of comparison, this shoe sits squarely against the Puma Velocity Nitro 4, and it does so extremely well. If you’ve struggled with Puma’s narrower fit, the Rise 3 offers a similar ride feel in a more accommodating package.

On the run, the Rise 3 handles:
  • Easy miles effortlessly
  • Uptempo paces surprisingly well
  • Treadmill intervals without hesitation
It’s become a plug-and-play part of my weekly rotation—perfect for the mid-week miles that sit between workouts and long runs. As someone who runs around 40 miles per week and is usually in marathon training, I value shoes that slot easily into a rotation. This shoe has done exactly that.

Heel strikers, rejoice.
The heel is wide, bulbous, and very well cushioned—ideal for runners who land at the rear of the shoe. There's plenty of protection and support, and I expect the Solution version (when it arrives) will build on this even more. The outsole continues to impress. The Light Traction rubber grips particularly well in winter conditions with no slipping issues, even on damp pavement.

How It Fits Into a Rotation
A question many will ask:Why not just buy the Adidas Adizero Evo SL instead?
The Evo SL is one of the best value performance shoes available—light, fast, incredibly versatile. But it isn’t a daily trainer. The Rise 3 complements it perfectly:
  • Evo SL → fast days, workouts, and even racing
  • Rise 3 → daily miles, steady runs, general training volume
If you didn’t get along with the SL, the Rise 3 is still worth a look. It retains a light feel underfoot and offers surprising pop from the updated Dreamstrike+.

Conclusion
The Adidas Supernova Rise 3 is a legitimately good daily trainer—one that stands out in a crowded category. It’s smoother, softer, more fun, and more stable than previous versions, and it finally gives Adidas a true competitor to the likes of the Puma Velocity Nitro 4. It’s durable, reasonably priced, and enjoyable across a range of paces. And crucially, it fills a once-glaring hole in Adidas’ lineup. If you can find the earlier Prima 1 or Prima 2 discounted, they’re still excellent additions to any rotation. But the Rise 3 shows just how far the Supernova line has come—and how promising the 2026 lineup looks to be. A shoe that’s easy to pick up, easy to run in, and easy to recommend.
