KIPRUN KD900X LD+, a high-performance marathon super shoe developed for elite runners at the Paris Olympics. This review is packed with on-the-ground insights after 20+ miles of testing, offering both high praise and pointed critiques.
This isn't just a showpiece shoe—we've run hard and long in it, including a full 20-mile session over varied terrain and pacing zones. The KD900X LD+ excels at marathon goal pace, delivering a stable, responsive, and enjoyable ride. The full-length carbon plate and VFOAM+ midsole deliver a ride comparable to bigger-brand competitors like the Adios Pro or SC Elite.
What Works:
Midsole & Ride Quality: The PEBA-based VFOAM+ foam delivers solid energy return without being overly aggressive. Once at race pace, the shoe stabilizes and performs beautifully.
Build & Aesthetics: A sharp purple colorway and bold branding give it standout appeal.
Durability: Good rubber coverage and ability to handle canal paths and mixed terrain make it more versatile than many racers.
What Doesn’t:
Heel Instability at Easy Pace: Narrow heel design creates a lack of stability during slower runs.
Poor Laces: Multiple mid-run re-ties were necessary—definitely a weak point.
Upper Comfort: Mesh upper feels rough and not premium, especially at the £199 price tag.
Pricing Concerns: If we’d paid full retail, I might not feel as generous. With cheaper and more established super shoes available (especially on discount), it’s tough to justify the price.
